Gimli Islandsheste

Horses with a good pedigree and a nice character

About Gimli Islandsheste

Gimli Icelandic Horses is the name of our horse stables that we share here in the fields of West Zealand. We have both had Icelandic horses for many, many years now and have collected a few over the years, both at home and in Iceland. We share a passion for the Icelandic horse, for breeding fine horses, for riding horses at all levels and for educating both horse and rider to the level that suits them best.

In the Netherlands (where we both come from) Kimbel has had a riding school and training and sales stable with only Icelandic horses and she has more than 20 years of experience in training & teaching. Romi has taken the judge programme under DI's auspices and has been a judge for a few years. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, she can no longer devote her scarce time to it.

Gimli Islandsheste is a collaboration between Kimbel and Romi and is based at Romi's home in West Zealand. Here she has several hectares of grass for both horses and sheep, as well as a lunging round pen and small oval track for training and teaching. Kimbel and Romi share the stable name and have some horses in the community and some in individual ownership.

We have both worked a lot with heart rate monitors (both Polar and the new Hylofit) and heart rate training for horses and we are very interested in everything related to (re)training, endurance training and horse fitness in general. We have therefore gathered a number of products in our webshop Equinics.

Kimbel is the one who trains our young horses.
